I have an 8 month old Welsh Harlequin sitting on a clutch of 14 or more eggs she has laid and collected from her two coop mates. She is attentive and protective.
My concern is that I have yet to see a fertilized egg from the 3 dozen other eggs I have collected from these would be moms.
Do I...
Okay, Welsh Harlequin ducks we have
Drakes:
Duck Donuts - we LOVE them.
Duck Down Under - always rooting for something
Shaka - he's different, his own duck
The Ducks:
Dr. Schneider - our favorite internist, pictured
Elena Maria - brave and inquisitive like our granddaughter
Lexi - very active...
I am looking to re-home several Welsh Harlequin drakes. These are silver phase from Metzers, 20 weeks old. Is there a forum for this?
All advice is welcome.
Yeah, I hear you. I have always liked to eat duck. But I can't eat my own.
I have raised them from day 3 and they are part of the family. They are not yet at POL so there hasn't been any abusive behaviour. But I'm watching for it. We'll see.
Yes, I'm facing the drake issue. 5 of my 8 chick's turned boyish, including one I was sure would be a duck. They all have names so roast duck is not an option for me.I may just give 3 drakes away if I can find a kind soul who wants them.
Just chiming in on the winter cold issue. My WH ducks seem to love it. The other am we had 22f and wind chill down to 7f, dem ducks was swimming, splashing and flapping. Today they are partying in freezing rain.
Better them than me.
