I have started to soak her feet again. I am not feeling any other hard spots in her foot. The swelling is starting to reduce but she still will not put any pressure on the foot whatsoever. I have her on antibiotics now (enrofloxacin). My over arching question is when should I see some changes...
The infection spread and caused some swelling around the “ankle”. (The first joint after the foot). I had to cut the corn out and so I stopped soaking the foot because the wound is open and didn’t want to risk further infecting the foot.
She does not put any pressure on the foot which is...
@GoldyKai I am curious what you did to help your duck recover. I recently treated mine for bumblefoot and she is not putting any pressure on the leg or foot whatsoever. Cleaning daily, new dressings daily and not feeling any other corns in the foot. Her foot still is feeling warm but not like...
Looks like normal, I left the sock on for 2 almost 3 full days. Coupled that with a lower protein feed and limited access to the feed. I also gave them some treats of kale and arugala and nutritional yeast. All in all notmal looking wings on everyone! Thanks for checking in!
I went back and got some more pictures directly over them. Let me know if these give a better look. I have a bunch more and can always got take more if needed. :)
They are more up away from the body. They droop and do not lay flat against the body. It looks like their body needs to fill out and they would lay flat against them. They at 6 weeks right now rolling into 7 and I want to be proactive.
One of my new ducks looks like it is developing angel wing. It was the second to the runt in the group that I got last month. I have noticed a couple weeks ago that it’s wings were droopy but attributed it to the beginning of growing feathers and getting used to that feeling. Then this week I...
*UPDATE*
I know its been a few months since I posted this initial question but felt like sharing what worked and didn’t for my ducks.
-She did not use the dog crate and would not go in it willing. It wasn’t a safe haven she could run into.
-I kept the oldest drake in the coop isolated for 2 -...
Ok, I will go out and get the dog carrier today and get that set up in the night pen.
The protein is at 17% and they get lots of treats (not too many but enough).
It’s the strangest thing bc they are inseparable during the day and will quack like mad when I take one away from the group. Even...
I have 4 ducks. 2 Anconas male and female. 2 Khakis both female. The night quarters are about 90sqft. The whole barn is about 500sqft. They eat dumor duck feed and free range.
I have a door that I can close to separate her from the others at night. So, I will do that.
My Khaki Campbells have recently joined the Anconas and seemingly overnight Quigley seems to have taken a big hit.
The Anconas I received back in July and are around 6-8 months old. The Khakis are 2.5 months old. The introductions were choppy at first but the group really seemed to gel before I...
