She has zero problem eating a swimming but, it's been two full days of her trying to nest and leaving the nest to run over and pig out on treats. When Is she officially egg bound? New ointment for bumblefoot and open sores

I wanted to share the miracle of manuka honey for treating infected wounds. I spread it on the bandage and pack the wound with it. The manuka honey...

Duck pens & keeping ducks in the winter

I know my compost piles stay pretty warm in the middle and I've heard of people using it for a makeshift water heater in homesteading situations.

Duck pens & keeping ducks in the winter

    Requirements for a Ducky backyard?

I would say, lots of cover, lots of shade & lots of water buckets. Be prepared to change at least once (preferably twice for drinking water) a day. Their swim pools I'll let go for a few days. And a scrub brush for all the algae!

Duck pens & keeping ducks in the winter

Pond or fish tank heater in the water. May have to jimmy a cover for the glass, to keep them from messing with it to much, but they're small, affordable and keep your bucket from freezing. Another wise price of advice I got here: keep the water bucket inside a bigger container to catch the...

    Struggling, head-pecked baby chick

Keep it clean and keep her warm and inside til she completely heals. If you send her out with any blood to the coop she's dead.
