I like extra fine wood shavings...the poop sticks well. I clean the roost daily.
If it rains a lot I add lime once a month to keep down the moisture and oder.
So sorry....I know how you feel...my neighbors dog has killed my guineas and hens at least 7 to count..my yard is fenced.

While on the subject of eggs I have a hen that lays but the shell doesnt harden. It's like a soggy sack and it breaks.

Breaks my heart to have all your hens lost. I have issues with Bobcats, fox, coons and possums even owls.
I know the pain of losing my hens and guineas. To these sneaky clever critters.
Taking one is bad enough but why all of them?
