Yeah I gave her one this morning. She looks exhausted by this hour though. Temps have been better but she consistently gets sluggish and uninterested in food around 4pm my time. She hasn’t filled her crop at night in a couple days.
I have a Delaware who,
As far as I can tell has always laid eggs with meat spots in them. She’s about a year and a half.
A week or so back she looked off. Overnight she laid a normal egg and a soft shelled egg. Didn’t lay for a couple days. Then the heat came with indexes of 105. Suddenly her...
I think that’s what we’re supposed to get in a couple
Of days (happy birthday to me…) what do you do with your birds?!
My day is scrambling to get some
Cages ready in the garage because I have one very dumb Buff Orpington being broody without sitting on eggs.
In concerned too! I’m in upstate NY and temps are going to hit 99 with 88% humidity … so MASSIVE heat index… I’m scrambling on ways to bring them inside into a climate controlled garage for a couple of days.. my green egger has been panting with wings out at only 80 with high humidity… and I...
Oh I do put her on after dark. She sits, then when I get inside and check my cam, she’s jumping down to go sit in the corner! 😭
There are two other boxes, and I definitely go out and remove her like once an hour haha. She’s very very determined to … not sit on anything at all.
Putting them on the roost works for you people?! My buff just jumps off and hunkers down a random corner because I have the nest boxes closed off during the night 😭
She’s not even sitting on eggs. Just sitting.
Oh I’m so sorry!
Good to hear. I found a spot that smelled very strongly of ammonia so I cleared it out. Hopefully That will help. We’ve had so much flooding rain lately and holes have been worn in the tarp over the run that it’s gotten and stayed wet.
But thanks for input!
I should mention she’s not even sitting on eggs. She picks an empty nest box to sit, and when she can’t get in there she just sits outside of it in the coop if I let her. I can’t close off access to the coop because the other girls are still laying.
After 4pm when I’m
Sure the others are...
Will do … but I don’t beilieve she is eating enough. Earlier her poop looked small but better than this.
She has refused eggs and tuna and will just eat a little wet crumble and maybe sunflower seeds and scratch like things…
she’s broody again!
We can’t have any more chickens (6 max) so there’s no hatching chicks out… before she was going to roost normally with the others once I closed the nest boxes off over night. But now she’s just nesting on the bottom of the coop at night and plucking out feathers :(
It’s not...
