i will start with a good picture of the underneath of the foot, soaking in epsom salt every day, and go from there. Thanks to both of you for your help. And Rita is so pretty! Lydia, do your geese and ducks interact well? (off topic)..
Ok, i will try that. i was trying not to upset her. But maybe she would enjoy the break. :yesss: Also, i will send the underneath of her foot when i get home. i wonder if i need to get her on an antibiotic for protective measures? I haven't had to treat a duck for any issues so this is new to me.
I should clarify, they have a big fenced in enclosure so she can walk around, but it's not a big enough space that i think she would be frolicking to where she could get hurt. but i guess anything can happen.
i dont let them free range right now, BUT she is with two drakes. i know, shame on me. i am waiting until spring when i can have time to order and raise two or three more females to add into the mix. Anyway, one of them could have been too rough on her?
Hello,
My duck has a swollen ankle and toe. it doesn't look like that bumble foot as there is no scab or head on it. i have attached pictures to see if anyone has any ideas. She is limping, laying down a lot. i soaked her in warm water. i can add epsom salt, but hadn't due to hearing conflicting...
I have 3 5 week old babies. They are almost as big as mom, and my drake cannot be around them for a second without going after them. I block him and he wont give up. They're his kids! I don't get it. To make matters worse, one of the babies is a Male. So we will have 3 females, 2 males. Any...
I guess im confused from different answers. Im seeing people on here say they take them the moment they hatch. She wouldve killed me for that. Im seeing people say they have no issues taking them whenever. I guess that doesnt necessarily mean its right to do..
Ok, maybe ill try waiting the 6 weeks then. Yes they do seem distressed just taking them out. i send mom out with dad to give him time with another duck, and to give me a chance to interact with the babies.
I just got my first clutch of hatched ducklings. There are 3. To begin with I had one drake and female. I suspect the ducklings are 2 females and one male. I have someone who wants some, so i figured id give her two, one female and one male-what i believe is male & female. My question is, if i...
