I have 7 3-4 week old chicks and one is pooing what appears to be blood. I can’t figure out which one. They all seem to be moving around and eating fine with the exception of one but I believe she is just younger than the rest. Pic below
The pic doesn’t really show. The apron is out two feet then buried under dirt and then the rocks on top. I’ve also added the large rocks on the inside walls for added safety. Do you think that will be enough?
I can absolutely lower the roosts. I just wanted to make sure they were higher than the nesting boxes. I’ll be adding organic substrate for sure because I want the compost for our garden.
Thanks. I have a 2ft 1/2in hardware cloth apron all around. I then covered that with dirt and large rocks. Hopefully nothing can make it through. I’ll also be installing motion lights.
Just curious. Will this be enough space for 4-6 laying hens? It’s about 13x14. I don’t have a run right now but plan to build one in the future. I cannot free range due to predators. It’s not complete yet but pics are below.
I have looked at the electric netting and thought it would be a good addition. I’m only looking at keeping 5-6 hens but like the option to add more if we decide.
