MASSIVE hen injury. need advice! PLEASE!

She is still alive and seemingly doing well. we stitched up the crop (my sister is a nurse and had some sutures from an old army/navy surgery kit). We've decided to keep her back open to monitor the crop healing and keep her bandaged for another day or so, then we will stitch up her back. I do...

MASSIVE hen injury. need advice! PLEASE!

I will be stitching the crop, i was asking if i should stitch up her back and neck/chest or leave it open and bandaged. I have 18 birds, I can't bring them all inside, but 2 injured birds are in the small coop for chicks and the worse 2 are in the house with me.

    Mealworm farming

Newbie here so take my opinion with that in mind. I think that diet sounds very limited for birds you after looking to consume after only several months of life. Also from what I'm reading on this thread 500 worms won't begin to provide you with that amount of mealies by summer. I just bought...

Just ordered my first worms from WestKnollAmy. Can't wait to get them! This thread has a TON of useful info, but after a few hours haven't even made it to page 20 (Amy just took the plunge into worm farming). Is there a thread or post with highlights or tips and tricks you figured out along...

    How old to stay outside?

how old do chicks need to be before they can be kept outside full time? I'm wanting to acquire some more hens but can't seem to find any of laying age, and don't know how young i can get and not have to keep them inside (my house is too crowded as it is, lol).

    Hens not laying, why?

thank you. That article is very helpful. I'll have to examine them tomorrow. They usually get to free range on the afternoons and evening so have laid by the time I get over there.

    Hens not laying, why?

I bought 7 sex link hens at a chicken swap on 8/18. Gave 3 to a friend (I keep my chickens at her place). Supposedly, at the time I purchased them, they were all laying, or so I was told. I figured it would take a couple of weeks for them to adjust to a new place and they would begin laying...
