    Heat wave

Yes, we just got our power back yesterday morning - almost 8 days without. The storm was quite severe and knocked down tons and tons of trees that pulled electrical wiring with them. It was tough going on some really hot days. But for the most part we just made a game out of it. I'm so sorry...

    Heat wave

Same here in VA - plus we've not had electricity for 8 days making keeping them cool really tough. I've already got one bird in the basement not doing well at all. I've been monitoring my birds all morning so I can catch heat stroke early if need be. I've tried the pool and they don't go for it...

Seriously ill and in dire shape

I forgot to add she has not given any more indications of respitory problems; i.e. the opening to crow but no sound coming out or leaving her beak open. She clucks ever so lightly.

    Hi from Virginia

Thank you SO much to everyone for your warm welcomes and the Happy Birdy Tidings! Tim, I'm south of you down in Lynchburg, VA. I don't have nearly as many birds either! I'm in the city and restricted to 4 with no rooster. Shenandoah is such a beautiful area of the country!

    No eggs. Help!

I'm pretty new to chickens, but the first thing I noticed is how thin they are ... FWIW.

One hen not laying eggs but not broody

Hi folks, I have a hen, Leeya, who has not laid an egg for about 3 weeks now. She doesn't appear to be broody as she doesn't sit in her nest or go spacy. She is up and around, but she doesn't appear to be her usual spry self. She's a bit slower than usual and does some odd things like leaves...

    Hi from Virginia

Hi everyone! My name is Darcie. My husband bought me 4 chickens last fall for my birthday. I was absolutely thrilled! We don't know what type of chickens they are nor did the man know who sold them to us. 2 weeks ago we got a speckled sussex and a bard rock (?). I am new to backyard raising...
