They almost sound like my chickens. They don’t make much noise at all. Our khaki quacks and they sort of make a whistle… no, but it’s higher pitched. I don’t know what the sound is tbh!
Here’s the only photo I have of them at 3 days old
I bought two Welsh ducklings and was told they were female. But now that they’re getting new feathers I’m beginning to wonder. I drove quite a distance for them. The sellers said I could exchange for females but we wanted to raise them from when they were ducklings.
I have zero experience so...
Oh thank goodness! Thank you. I think I’m hyper paranoid now because this has been a season of firsts for us at our homestead and it seems all the problems one could ever have have happened.
This happened over just a few days. Her wings didn’t look like this at all and I don’t know if she’s just growing in feathers or if this is Angel wing?
No to very little improvement. She’s walking over her feet so we expected it was niacin Deficiency despite giving her generous BY over her food a few times a day. We ordered the nutricost niacin my husband found recommended on a website and have been giving her like… 1/10th of the scoop because...
We have a KC duck with inward turned legs and a funny walk and she’s about 1.5 months old. I’d been adding brewers yeast to her food and water and seems to have some improvement but nothing significant. She’s currently eating unmedicated chick starter.
🙈 I know.
I am afraid of chickens. We have nine who are around a month old (maybe older?) and two ducklings. I’m not at all afraid of the ducks!
The chicks flap their wings and try to peck me and it freaks me out. We have goats for milk and the idea was chickens for eggs… and as the main...
Yes we did that when we first got them but they started staying away from it and now they’re all too big for the bin and we have it hovering on heat setting above the lid.
Tbh I’m not sure how the mice get in, or if they do during the night/times when the garage door is closed. We don’t have bedding for them but have just been using drawer liners in their bins
Ours has a heater and brooding function. The heater setting is pretty darn hot to the touch so I currently have it outside of their plastic tub hovering just above it because it will emit a lot of heat. That said, that’s in the basement so the ambient temperature is much more controlled.
I honestly don’t know. I’ll see if I can’t find the ambient temp tonight and report back. Our basement is finished so it’s warmer there than the garage for sure. And the garage has cement floors.
