Our girls have officially called it quits for the winter. They are so fed up with the cold and snow, they have decided they'll just hang out in the roost or sit in the nesting boxes all day. Ugh, I was all for the snow going away at first, but now... This is just awful. Our 6 birds have somehow turned their entire area (a sectioned off part of the yard about 20ftx20ft) into a mud pit. At the first sight of the grass beneath the snow they were digging and pecking through...- eggsbert

My girl is supposed to be a purebred Wheaten Ameraucana (and she looks the part, but the egg doesn't). I got her from Desert Springs locally. Maybe her sister will lay bluer eggs. Maybe two of the Australorps were laying at one point then, but neither are doing anything now (bad birds)...- eggsbert

Other than a knick on her foot (which didn't bleed more than a single drop) and the puncture below her ear everything checked out.
