Yes, all five birds from two separate breeders had the same feathering.
sorry, I got the feeds mixed up. The Roos and cockerels are on grower finisher. Our hens and pol pullets are on a layer ration with 3% calcium and 22% protien.
Yes 16%. They are from the same breeder but he’s been developing them for years and has acquired different bloodline from Canada and the US. In fact, I went to a chicken show and there were two separate breeders who have different lines from this guy and all the birds at show looked the same.
Right now, commercial layer ration. In the fall winter I switch to grower/finisher. We don’t supplement light and heat so the ladies stop laying around for three months.
Hello everyone! I have a small flock of RIR I’m needing assistance with. The feather quality if a bit off to me, it looks like shredder feather but I’ve been told it’s not. I’ve assumed this is standard because every sop RIR I’ve seen looks like this. I didn’t a post from this forum showing a...
Hey all. I have some five week old purebred BCM chicks. I’m 90% sure about 90% of the chicks lol except this one. Comb is slightly darker pink than the other pullets but wattles are pink/red. Size is similar to the other pullets in the group. I’m thinking late blooming cockerel? Any thoughts?
Very true. I have asked and she says they are a cross between crele and lemon cuckoo niederrheiner. But I have both plumage colours and these birds look nothing like them.
I’ve got two birds that do not look anything like the breed I purchased. Out of 16, these two are drastically different. The breeder does Niederrheiner, whiting true blue and BCM. The birds I purchased were niederrheiners but these two look more like whiting true greens! Is my hunch correct...
That’s what I thought. Hard to find pictures of niederrheiners different colours but from what I’ve seen of crele they don’t look like this. She has whitting true blues as well… maybe a hen got mixed up with them or a couple eggs got mixed in with the niederrheiner.
Hey all, just joined the forum. We bought a small acreage last year and have ventured into chicken keeping. We have 16 supposed niederrheiner chicks. We’re looking to get some BCM next year and try Jersey Giants and Cornish Giants for meat birds. Maybe even a death layer or two ha. Thanks
