This is killing me. I can't wait to move to some land and get ducks again. For now, I'm learning to be content with the chickens though- not bad for a rented place anyway.

Rehome Two Purebred Silkie Hens - Austin,TX

I suspect the OP has abandoned this thread. I never got a response to the PM I sent back on the 13th, and OP doesn't appear to have been on the site again logged in since before I sent the PM.

    Guesses on Age and Types?

Glad to oblige. The bottom edges are definitely lighter pink but I don't think I'd necessarily call it white. My husband is particularly excited that the brown one is a Quail D'anver. He likes to name the chickens after super heroes, so she's going to be Carol D'anvers after Miss Marvel.

    Guesses on Age and Types?

The guy I got them from didn't remember exactly when he got them just that it had been something like a few months ago he thought. Although he didn't even know 100% which feed store his kids had gone to, the feed store I think he got them from (which is the closest one to his house) has in the...

    Guesses on Age and Types?

They're all pretty delighful so far. We'd built a 2nd coop late last year and had been planning to add to our flock this spring so the timing worked out great since they can have a ton of space to themselves. We've already learned the Cochin is a spitfire. One of the Wyandottes from our...

    Guesses on Age and Types?

An acquaintance found out his HOA is not chicken friendly and has passed along his little flock of 3 to us. All the former owner knew was that the largest bird wandered up to his house 2-3 months ago and they decided to keep it so he sent his kids to the feed store to "find it some friends."...

Need to Rehome 2 Roosters- Central Texas

Sad day at our house- our landlord says the roosters have to go so we're needing to find new homes for these 2 handsome guys. Both are healthy and were born sometime around early April of this year. They're used to free ranging and are good foragers and not aggressive. We're located in the...

Integrating 2 New Chickens Into the Flock- Tips for Timid Chickens?

We're having some trouble integrating 2 new chickens into our flock of 5 hens and I'm hoping for some tips from those of you with a lot more experience. We have a 16 square foot coop and a 300 square foot run, so there's plenty of room for everyone. We have 3 waterers and 3 feeders inside the...

What breed might these 4 be?

Thanks everyone! We had wondered a bit about the age ourselves as they looked older than pictures i had seen at the various ages. Now to hope at least 1 of them turns out to be a pleasant enough personality to get to stay around for when we try again to get some hens. We're going to be free...

What breed might these 4 be?

We ended up adopting these 4 a few weeks ago once a local classroom has finished a project of hatching and raising baby chicks. The teacher didn't know anything about them at all in terms of breed or sex when we got them. From what we were told by the teacher, these guys should be about 6...
