Going to be getting 2 Pomeranian goslings hopefully this Thursday 💖 anyone know how they deal with integrating into a new flock? Currently it’s just my two bonded pair adults which are Sebastopol/embden and they have a 2 week old gosling, the Pomeranians are about 2 and a half weeks old
I actually can’t 😞 it happened right in a blind spot and all I saw was the two parents flying towards that area with their arms out and a magpie flying away. I checked his leg all over and couldn’t see any visibly injury and he wasn’t in pain when I moved it around either. They’re currently on...
I might try in a bit if it becomes a problem again though I know you can’t really post videos here unless it’s uploaded to YouTube first 😓 he is walking again now but it seems to be a thing that happens occasionally where his right leg just won’t support him
This is the same gosling who couldn’t walk last time - I saw in the cameras that a magpie tried to get him and assumed he was in shock but it’s happened again today! Is it possibly a slipped tendon? I’ve seen that’s quite common in goslings apparently but I’m not sure how to treat it :^(
Yes definitely keep an eye out for magpies! They’re huge gosling and duckling killers, there’s a population of wild geese around here and a few of their babies got killed by them sadly 😢 and yes it seems that sometimes geese just like to stand on one leg lol, I see a lot do it from time to time!
Good news! He’s already back up and running, I checked the camera and a magpie tried to get him so I think he was in shock 😢 he’s only over a week old but I think he just needed a couple minutes to lie down and now he’s running around like nothing happened smh! Heart attack for nothing 😓
Really worried as I came outside to check on the goslings only to see that one of them can’t walk. It seems to be one foot that it can’t fully stand on, I’ve checked it all over and I can’t see any injury and he doesn’t flail or act in pain when I touch or move any part of it and it all seems to...
So sorry for what you’re going through 😞 it really is tough, if it’s any comfort I have a friend who’s gosling was born with bad sight issues but is doing wonderfully now. Also when it comes to water containers on a night I use a fairly small circular plastic tub that’s maybe about 4-5 inches...
Goodness I’m not sure from the looks of it :^( I’d say maybe leave it with her for a bit and not rotate it, if you can’t see any fluid knocking about and there’s no bad smell then it could be ok? I‘ve never candled an egg later than day 20 or so I’m not sure.
Looks like we won’t be getting any more hatches because she’s come out of the shed and they followed so I got some better pictures and also a picture of Polly since she missed her lap cuddle hahaha
Oh my goodness that’s so interesting… I’ll have to get a proper pic of the 2 hatched goslings soon to show their beaks a bit more clearly but the markings look very similar! Although ours seem quite prominent and dark
He and another goose belonged to the previous owner of the house that passed away, when we moved in we kind of just adopted them however his goose was taken one night by someone sadly 😞 but he’s gotten along with our geese super well, really gentle and docile gander!
