    We have a coop!

We found a coop that we liked on a blog and adapted it to fit our backyard. We still need to get the outside run done but the chicks are still just 7 weeks so they think they have acres to play.

how often clean brooder/change wood chips - compost daily?

I changed my shavings out about once a week. I had 5 chicks in a 1.5' x 3' aquarium until they were about 4 weeks and then they HAD to go out to their coop - they were getting way to big!

Meet my babies and help identify please.

I'm new to this, but I have 4 week olds for a few of the breeds you were questioning... You are correct with your Black Australops and number 8 & 9 are EE's. I would say that 11 & 16 are Buff Orpington's, mine were never as short and round as your number 10 and never had any black as in your...

Are my girls old enough to stop worrying about temp?

My chicks are the same age as yours, they turned 4 weeks this past week. I put mine out in their new coop on Sunday - I'm in Minnesota and it's 80's during the day and around 60 - 70 at night. It sounds like I have the same set up as you, with a run below the coop, and I always put them up at...

Chick has poece of poop stuck to bottom

One of my little ones had some poo stuck that I couldn't get off and I didn't want to pull to hard. I just used a baby fingernail scissors and trimmed it off.
