    i asked grand and she said they were chilled. they had spilled their water and were standing in it. my white silkie hatched seven more and i give them water only when supervised! i have the mother and babies in the laundry room, in a large tub, they all seem very happy. i've raised chickens...

    Black spots on rooster combs

    all of my roosters developed this condition a few days ago and upon close inspection, there are tiny bugs, that look like flies, full of blood, on their combs. i'm thinking of putting vasoline on them; would that help or hinder? the hens don't have the mites.

    What to feed chickens to lay more eggs.

    old fashioned thing that really works! black pepper. i am serious*_* our chickens were not laying at all, i put a tsp on their food and now they lay every day. our neighbor told me this and we were so desperate that we tried it (success!): i love the tiny pale green eggs. ^_^

    this hen looks just like my pedigras! her chicks are all white, but i am lusting for a dark silkie. she had two eggs hatch a week after the first four, so she may be on there for a time, like you said.
