    Sexing Silkies

I can try again tomorrow! There seems to be a single comb, but looks almost like a regular comb?

    Sexing Silkies

Hi all, we have one lonely silkie and I’m having a hard time sexing them. They’re about 8 weeks old now. I know the photos aren’t the best, but I’m leaning towards female. Any guesses? Thanks!

Hen eating broody hens nest when she gets up to eat/drink

We replace them all each time, and it’s only been a few days (so in theory she would only be on the nest 3-5 days longer than “normal”). We’ll likely put her in her own spot :)

Hen eating broody hens nest when she gets up to eat/drink

This is what we initially thought of doing but I figured I’d see if anyone else is experiencing this. Thanks for the suggestion! :)

Hen eating broody hens nest when she gets up to eat/drink

Hello! We have a broody hen that is sitting on some eggs (all good there!), but when she gets up to eat/drink once a day another hen races in and eats as many eggs as she can before the broody one gets back. We keep replacing the eggs for our broody girl, but at this point it’s getting...

    Bloody Chicken Feet

She has been separated and is eating and drinking fine. We think she just had some feathers pulled out, but one foot is a little more swollen on the pad. We’ll keep an eye on her for now.

    Bloody Chicken Feet

Does anyone know what’s going on with my girl? She didn’t come in last night (we moved her in ourselves) and was bloody this morning. It only seems to be her feet, both of them. They’re colder to the touch and don’t seem to be actively bleeding. Is it frostbite? We cleaned a bit with rubbing...

    Pullet or roo?

I have 2 copper marans that are roughly 4.5 months old. I suspect they are pullets, but does anyone think roo? Thanks!!

    Sick Coturnix, swollen head

Did you find what was wrong? I have a little guy that looks the exact same and I’m a little worried about him

    Pullets or Roos

Any ideas why they aren’t crowing or trying to fight with the other two roos? They’re pretty docile in comparison.

    Pullets or Roos

Finally got out to get other pictures! These are the three in question.

    Pullets or Roos

They’re all right around 12 weeks, I’ll try to get better pictures next time I’m out with them :)

    Pullets or Roos

Hi all, I have some barnyard mixes that I’m not sure the gender of. Compared to my boy that’s the same age, the other’s behaviour and plumage looks very different. My known boy is the white one with the large comb. He only tries to fight one other chicken who I also know is a boy (photo not...

    Pullets or Roos?

What about the ones that have combs but they are very light pink?

    Pullets or Roos?

Thanks! The group of them at the end is the 7 chicks, I was just trying to get good pictures of them all (surprisingly hard!). I knew a few were roos, but some of the others were tricky. :)
