What breed of chicken is this? I bought her at tractor supply but can’t remember. I feel like it was something that started with an A? Not an amaracauna. Thanks!
For the one rouen that quacks with a loud honk, she’s definitely a female, the beak is also an indicator. The other rouen seems to definitely be a male, again the green beak is a sign and the raspy quack. I’m unsure about the pekins, sometimes what I’ll do is pick them up and see what they’re...
ofc, it doesn’t always mean that! but in my experience a couple times that has been the case and it’s beak is just sticking too far out and it can’t zip.
If it’s been over 2 days and it hasn’t started zipping, I would assist. Sometimes they can make a bigger hole from where they originally pipped, but their beak will be sticking far out and they’re unable to zip. When you notice it’s chirps getting quieter and it seems to be getting weaker is...
I have a pair of mandarins that I got last winter. They didn’t lay last year and they haven’t started laying this year. They have a relatively large pen, a big bowl of water I clean out once a day, I feed them Mazuri food, and I have a wood duck box for them to lay in. What could be causing her...
I don't have any images, and I'm unsure if i can get any. I will try. They may be stressed, ive had issues with her before flying straight into the chicken wire when she sees me. Now that's gotten better, she doesn't spook every time but they are still very wary. I'm unsure how to make her less...
I bought a pair of mandarins over the winter and this is my first year owning them. I was anticipating some mandarin ducklings this year, but the female hasn't laid yet. She has a nesting box, and i put straw in it originally and she made a little nest, but didn't lay in it for a couple months...
Ah I figured! I just got home and she has hatched :) I was a bit concerned for a bit, but noticed it looked like it began zipping. I’m so glad she was all right. Thank you so much!
Hello, sorry about all the threads I’ve been posting, hatching chicks and ducklings has me worried about every little abnormalities 😂 I have a duckling hatching right now, it pipped probably about 24 hours ago, maybe more, and it’s made a little progress but it’s not zipping. It’s beak is...
I’m hatching ducklings again this year, but for some reason a couple of them are having issues. One of them looks horrible, when I touch it it’s feathers are super hard and like the membrane is dried to it or something. It can hardly move. How can I clean that membrane off??? And help it?? Warm...
Hello, I have my first turkey that just hatched last night. I just took it out of the incubator and it’s legs seemed slightly splayed. I’ve never dealt with splayed leg, though after some research I built a “splint” to perhaps fix it, though I’m unsure if it’s even splayed leg. Haven’t seen it...
No I don’t typically mark the eggs, as I collect them just whenever and they aren’t very accurate Lol. Luckily I do have a second incubator, and I’ve always done it this way, and I haven’t had any issues yet :)
Ah okay, I had figured. Luckily these eggs were just kinda of ‘test eggs’, if I see the incubator stays at a consistent temperature I may add more, expecting them to actually hatch.
