Do you like chickens? Do you like Christmas? Me too! Wish I had these to plop around my apartment complex to bamboozle our naibours when they least expect it...
I haven’t found any directly on me but I can feel my skin crawling from time to time and feel bites. I looked up mites and lice and I’m fairly sure it was mites on the chicken. They were grey and red.
Hello!
A couple days ago I came across an abandoned baby chick I tried to help (unfortunately it didn’t work out). But I woke up constantly in the middle of the night today being crazy scratchy. I’m not sure if I’m just paranoid about mites and my body is just making things up but I’m terrified...
I
I don’t know ANYTHING about chickens but in the medical industry and (I did this with my pet mice when she had a prolapse) you can put sugar solution on the prolapsed anus and it encourages it to shrivel up. Worked for my mice when she was a baby and problem went away after 2 weeks. No clue...
Did you get rid of the mites? Did they leave by themself?
I tried to rescue an abandoned chick with mites and now I’m being bit in bed! Showered right after and everything.
Also do you know if they can attatch themself to mice? I have pet mice too and I don’t know if hey will find their way there.
hey guys. Just got home and went to check up on her. Got the temp all right and everything in the boiler room (nice happy 90) and She wasn’t good at all. Barely alive. So I suspect maybe something else was going on outside of just the temp. Maybe from where she wasn’t eating before she just...
managed to convince him to use the heat bulb in the boiler room. It’s attached to the ceiling so it’s a bit far away from her but the rooms very small and enclosed and it’s 100W so should be able to heat the room a bit better.
Thanks :) I offered to pay for the electricity it covers and everything and he was being difficult when we went to go pick up the food too. But there’s only so much I can do since it’s his house and he’s the one driving haha. Glad I’m not the only one lol.
I’d love to get chickens properly but...
Hmmm maybe. Although I think there was only 5 eggs and there was about 4/5 babies total. Would a mom really only leave with just one baby? And the living one looked about same age as the others.
I don’t know what brand it is. I went to the feed store and explained the situation and she was...
The boiler room is 85 and we just switched out the bulb for a heat bulb so hoping that will push it up to 90. I admit it was a bit chilly today for her (low 80’s) but now we got that bulb I’m hoping she’ll perk up a bit. Will update everyone in a couple hours.
I would hold her up to my body...
I’ll go look for a wash cloth to heat up and try. I was using paper towels in plastic but they didn’t seem to want to hold their heat. Maybe a wash cloth will work better since it’s bigger. I’m on Oahu but I live just about as high up as you can get so it’s a little chillier up here!
That’s a...
Hmmm maybe. Although I don’t think anything physical happened. When I looked at her and the dead chicks I didn’t notice any trauma (or as much as a novice could notice) and she could walk when I first got her. Maybe the mother just wasn’t around when the babies hatched so they all died? I tried...
I tried making a mix of her water, sugar and food but she didn’t seem interested at the moment :/ she has times where she’s more active than others. We have both a heat lamp and pad but my dads being a butthole saying he won’t waste electricity on a baby chicken. I am measuring the temp of the...
Hello! Me and my dad were out walking (there’s loads of wild chickens where I live (Hawaii)) and we found a nest. Lots of broken eggs and several dead fluffy baby chickens. They were all covered in bugs. There was one still alive and making noise. We looked for it’s mum but couldn’t find her...
