I’m in Indian Trail NC and I’m looking for a young bantam sized rooster within ~35 miles. I’d be most interested in Mille Fleur d’Uccle, as I have 3 Mille Fleur pullets, but I’d consider any color variation, and potentially another breed entirely.
Please message if you have an extra or one you...
Trying to figure out if this is a pullet or cockerel. The comb was coming in strong and I thought boy, but the feathers aren’t screaming roo to me. What do you think?
Looks great! The only thing I would consider changing is either the placement of the roosting bar along the back or the ramp. With the roosting bar right above the ramp they’re going to poop all over it. Probably not a big deal, but more difficult to clean than the bedding on the floor.
I did, and the ingredients are very similar. On the nutrition info though it does look like there’s a lot more sodium in the deer block, as LizzzyJo had suspected. I’m not sure what effect the extra sodium would have, but I ordered a flock block online, and hopefully Tractor Supply will get them...
Hi!
My chickens have been loving flock blocks as a treat. Our local Tractor Supplies don’t have any though. They’re loaded up on deer hunting stuff instead. Can I give my chickens one of the deer feeding blocks that looks like a flock block? TIA!
They already neck-wrestle quite a bit and sometimes wind up with scabby bits on their heads and wattles. It doesn’t seem to be too serious though. Will it get more intense than that?
I want to keep them In a coop and run at night, at least, but eventually I’d like to let them free-range on about...
Hello!
In April I got a group of Royal Palm poults to raise up. As is the way of things I wound up with 6 toms and 1 jenny. I would like to keep as many of the turkeys as I can, but I’m also not looking to get any more. I found raising them indoors to be a miserable experience.
I have read that...
Thanks! I wound up leaving them together because the pip was always on top. This morning, egg number 2 hatched!
Meet Charm:
Once she was out I wicked most of the water out of the incubator with paper towel so the chicks would dry out faster. I separated them for a little while because Charm...
No other chicks. I don’t know if you saw the op, but these were the last 2 viable eggs left after a big rat snake ate a bunch of the eggs I had a broody sitting on in the barn.
The pip has been staying at the top since I first spotted it, so I think the chick hasn’t been spinning it since that...
So, how big a deal is it that the hatched chick is rolling the remaining egg all over the place? Is there anything I should do about that? It has pipped!
One success, for sure!
This is Lucky. 💛 Lucky is at least part Salmon Faverolles. Could be full. Could be a barnyard mix, but (s)he has 5 toes and feathered legs.
How long should I leave Lucky in the incubator waiting for the other egg?
So I candled the eggs earlier, and got these pics:
Weird shaped air sack:
And this one was too dark to see much:
I just checked the humidity before going to bed, and the one with the weird-shaped air sack has pipped!! And I heard it peep!!
