She has lost her place but they aren't picking on her as if she is new...she was top hen before and was nasty to the others. She is about 3rd hen now ( bottom of her age group but above the new layers). You are right though...she has nothing to do with any of the others now...it is as if they...
Will hens accept chicks if she is sitting on an empty nest? How do most of the other chickens handle the chicks? I have 9 hens and one roo in the coop(including the broody hen). I don't want to take her out of the coop due to having to re-introduce them back in...such a headache! She hasn't lost...
My red sexlink hen has been sitting on the nest almost none stopped since the first part of June. I have moved her..taking her off the nest constantly. She is determined to sit. Will she finally give it up or will she set forever??
I have a broody that is sitting tight and has been for two weeks now. She is a Nankin mix. I need to move her to a safer next ( it is off the ground about 3 feet).
My questions are:

I hope that your chick lives without any pain. If it isn't able to and you decide to cull, then you could use baking soda and vinegar. There is a thread on here about how to do it.. it is quick & painless. I had to put down a chick out of my first hatch...It went quickly but I cried forever, it...
You could do a float test on the egg to see if there is any movement now...if not you could crack it open to see if the chick had deformities. I do not know what the the spots are..never had that happen before.
I have a friend who wants me to hatch 6 eggs for him. I asked him how he has been storing them. He told me that he has been turning them end over end. ( pointy end up..then pointy end down) Will they hatch?
