Hi all,
I'm looking to get some chicks for my newly renovated coop. The local hatchery in Fresno, CA has a 25 chick minimum. I only need 10-12 chicks. Anyone want to split an order?
I'm no expert for sure, but from my experience, feeding amount depends on environment. If they green pasture, they will graze and eat less pellets. I would say my adult emus eat about 1 to 1.5 pounds of ratite pellet per day. And during the breading season, about half of that. My female lays an...
I have 6 eggs in the incubator as we speak. Hatch should be around 3/17. My female stopped laying last week, but she's done this before and starting laying again. So i might have some fertile eggs available if you're interested.
Our female, Felicia, is finally laying! She got a late start this year. Egg #2 arrived on Christmas Eve, 574g, and egg #3 just arrived today, 592g. Keeping them at 55° and turning daily. Will incubate once we have 6 good ones. Wish us luck!

#14 started at 546g, ended at 479g...
Happy to report that after 26 hours and a little help egg #14 hatched. Followed shortly thereafter by egg #16. Both chicks are anxiously awaiting the arrival of egg #17 and egg #18.
