I don’t think so. How long has it been pipped like that?
Mine needed a little help with moisture on the membrane, but it was about 24 hours after I noticed first pop and it was still not able to penetrate the membrane fully. Hatched successfully though and is a healthy little chick now!
Is this chick shrink wrapped? It’s still alive and has poked this hole in the shell, but there’s a gap between the shell and the thick membrane, can’t see any chick, but it’s peeping and making progress. Day 20 Swedish flowers from my own flock. None of the other eggs have pipped yet.
Thank you!
I put my swedish flower roo in a separate coop with my 2 speckled Sussex hens. They’ve been laying but the first eggs looked like this. I assume it’s because of stress from the move the first couple of days but it could also be because they’re older now. Would you hatch this? It’s slightly...
Ok thank you. As I said, stressful hatch. Shipped eggs some with huge saddle cells (one of which has hatched healthily!) and then power outage the night of day 18, took the incubator to a friends to plug it back in after 8 hours of being cold etc. I’m happy to have 4 on the ground and hopefully...
Hello, stressful hatch going on here with shipped Swedish flower eggs. 4 have made it. This popped yesterday and nothing since so I took it out and unfortunately the chick has died. Is this shrink wrapped or did it pop into a blood vessel?
Ok thank you for your response. I guess that was my question - will the hatch rate decrease if I wait on the eggs I currently have before setting them? If they arrive early enough on Monday I could even set them Monday night.
A friend offered her incubator for me to borrow, so I could do two...
Hello!
This is not my first time hatching shipped eggs (or my own 🙃) but I've just come across a bit of a dilemma and need chicken people's help!! I ordered two dozen eggs from Southern California (we're central, so not very far). Problem is, one dozen arrived today and the other dozen arrives...
So we got 5 out of the 26 shipped eggs. Pretty good considering they’d traveled 2500 miles. Their air cells were hugely saddled, I wish I’d taken photos now but after reading some threads on here I stopped turning early and hatched them in a cut down egg carton. We ended up with 3 speckled...
Yes! I bought them from Bresse Farms, a 2500 mile journey from my house in CA. I bought a dozen of each speckled Sussex and Swedish flower hens. At the 10 day candle, I have 7 speckled Sussex developing and 6 swedish flowers 😍🤞🏻
