    Would you hatch this egg?

I put my swedish flower roo in a separate coop with my 2 speckled Sussex hens. They’ve been laying but the first eggs looked like this. I assume it’s because of stress from the move the first couple of days but it could also be because they’re older now. Would you hatch this? It’s slightly...

Is this shrink wrapped? PIC WARNING

Ok thank you. As I said, stressful hatch. Shipped eggs some with huge saddle cells (one of which has hatched healthily!) and then power outage the night of day 18, took the incubator to a friends to plug it back in after 8 hours of being cold etc. I’m happy to have 4 on the ground and hopefully...

Is this shrink wrapped? PIC WARNING

Hello, stressful hatch going on here with shipped Swedish flower eggs. 4 have made it. This popped yesterday and nothing since so I took it out and unfortunately the chick has died. Is this shrink wrapped or did it pop into a blood vessel?

    Shipped eggs / incubator question

Ok thank you for your response. I guess that was my question - will the hatch rate decrease if I wait on the eggs I currently have before setting them? If they arrive early enough on Monday I could even set them Monday night. A friend offered her incubator for me to borrow, so I could do two...

    Shipped eggs / incubator question

Hello! This is not my first time hatching shipped eggs (or my own 🙃) but I've just come across a bit of a dilemma and need chicken people's help!! I ordered two dozen eggs from Southern California (we're central, so not very far). Problem is, one dozen arrived today and the other dozen arrives...

    ISO speckled Sussex fertile eggs

So we got 5 out of the 26 shipped eggs. Pretty good considering they’d traveled 2500 miles. Their air cells were hugely saddled, I wish I’d taken photos now but after reading some threads on here I stopped turning early and hatched them in a cut down egg carton. We ended up with 3 speckled...

    ISO speckled Sussex fertile eggs

Yes! I bought them from Bresse Farms, a 2500 mile journey from my house in CA. I bought a dozen of each speckled Sussex and Swedish flower hens. At the 10 day candle, I have 7 speckled Sussex developing and 6 swedish flowers 😍🤞🏻

    Pullet with deformed leg

Thanks I’ll google chicken leg brace and see if I can come up with something. I’d like to try and correct it now before it gets any worse. Will also get some vitamin b Ok thank you. I’ll leave it be and hopefully she just survives with it. She gets up and down the ladder into the coop ok and...

    Pullet with deformed leg

I’ve just noticed one of our young hens (hatched April 1st so 3 months old) has a deformed leg that she is limping on. We were in the coop sorting out the cockerels and I noticed she couldn’t get around too well. I like her and want to keep her. It hasn’t always been this way, none of them had...

    Chicken eggs day 26

Sorry hit reply too soon. Yes I’ve since been reading that the temp should be 101-102, when I first started all I saw was it should be 99.5 I have the hygrometer on a little wooden block in there so it’s the same height as the top of the eggs
