For several years I have gotten chicks from my local feed store and they order from privett. They are the healthiest little buggers! May different breeds over the years too lol. This year I picked up 2 little buff cochin pullets and for being only a few days old they have really nice full...
Hi everyone. I have a little d'uccle roo, named little loon, with some troubles.... about 3 weeks ago he was sitting in the food dish eatting and my MUCH bigger russian orloff roo jumped into the dish and nailed the d'uccle. It was not an intentional attack, my orloff was excited that I had...
I hope I can get pictures up of my chickies.....I still have 2 to go BUT I currently have 5 pld english game chicks and 2 silkie crosses and 2 on the way. 2 of the oegb chicks look pure (spangled hen x bbr roo) 1 looks to be a cochin cross and 2 are black silkie crosses. All 5 are from the...
We're veyr excited today. My 4 year old daughter has 5 eggs from her hen in the incunator and 2 have pips so far! She was so sad last month when her hen's egg died a few days before hatching. The hen is a spangled old english game bantam named cookie stripe lol. The father of her chicks is a...
The quail portion of my hatch is over lol. 18 out of 19. I candled it and listened to it after all the others were out and nothing. So I piped it and was dead. And smelly..... verr gross. Tomorrow my chicken eggs should start. I have 4 old english crosses, 5 silkie crosses, and 1 mystery...
Quail are set for hatching on the 4th and chickies due to follow on the 7th. I'm a little worried this time though as I only saw movement in 3 of my 14 chicken eggs.... I was expecting more of a show tonight!
This info is very helpful to me as well. I have a pair of silver sebrights and the hen is approx 40 weeks and is ahowing no signs of being ready to lay any time soon. My little roo is very much in love with all the other hens though! If I want to colle t her eggs for hatching am I correct in...
Day 12 for me. Last night I took 3 quail eggs out. 2 were infertile and 1 was stinky. That leaves me with 19 and all 14 of my chicken eggs are still doing great!
I hope they hatch well for you! My husband does not believe that the more eggs in the incubator the better they do ;-). But I just set 40 for september lol. I'm down to 36 because I had 4 infertile eggs. Good luck to us all!
You're right. Dry hatching is adding little to no water to the incubator until the end for hatching. Here in pa though, in august, I couldn't have gotten my humidity lower than 30% lol. So I just kinda let the eggs go with whatever the room was at and that worked out fine for me. I figure...
I had a wonderful hatch in august and I think it's because I did a dry hatch. My humidity was between 35-45% and I bumped it up to 70% for the last 3 days.
No washing. It can force bacteria into the eggs through the poors anc will remove the bloom which is the protective cover on the eggs. I've got my fingers crossed for you this month! And I kinda turn mine. Like once a day I tilt the carton they are in to the oposite side if that makes sense lol.
