It was a very decent sized hole and still no progress all day so i decided to assist. Looks like having the hole open that long dried some membrane making it harder to zip. Was also positioned weird in the egg and had curled toes. Ive splinted it and other than that seems healthy
Ive gone and yoinked them out and put a damp paper towel in so i think i had minimal humidity loss. One egg has been pipped for several hours now overnight so i hope its ok
This is my first time hatching quail, and so far have 4 babies in the incubator. Theyve been in there for around 20 hours and definitely dry. I'm worried about opening the incubator to take them out because ive heard about shrink wrapping and ive got other eggs that are pipped and some trying to...
Its possible its got bantam in there but ive got other bantams and they were not this small at this age. Im considering the possibility he may be a frazzle since i do not know his lineage but i do know they all have a frizzle parent, and hopefully it was just 1 frizzle parent but i cant know for...
This little black chick is the same size as he was at 1 week. Theyre all around 4-5 weeks old now. He eats and drinks normal. I was given him along with 3 others for free when i went to pick up some hens. Not sure on breed. Ive treatted everyone with corrid just in case. Theyre on medicated...
Its not the end of the world... im still glad i forked out the money to help them. We managed to keep a rooster a secret for almost 2 years, only reason we got caught was coz we got really sick with flu and couldnt get out of bed to lock him up for the night so he started crowing at 4 am.
Being inside is only temporary at the moment. I will keep it in mind for future tho that it might not be a good idea long term. And Mochi is healthy i assure you, just has some healing to do which is going very well with assistance from a vet. Its just be much easier if Mochi is a girl coz then...
Mochi is around 6 and a half weeks old.
Mochi has been inside due to an accident and she got injured. She is recovering well.
Ive spent quite a bit of money on her treatment, so it would be preferable if Mochi is a girl. We're not supposed to have roosters where we live, so if Mochi is a roo, we...
Yes i agree im never using a lamp again. I was trying to be safe and prevent shattering by using ceramic not glass. I have a plate but its in use for younger chicks atm. Im going to be buying a second one
Im never using a heat lamp again tbh. I was using a plate but i got more chicks that were a lot smaller and they needed the plate more and since I only had 1 plate thats why i swapped the older ones to the lamp. Plates are just pricey, but you know whats more pricey? Vet bills lol
Yes i think some short visits might be enjoyable for her. Because i have the heatplate in use for the other chicks atm and the heatlamp i refuse to use ever again, ive been using a heat pack wrapped in a towel to help her stay warm as well as keeping the room temp warm. Hopefully just the...
Oh thats a lovely idea. I was actually thinking today id like to crochet something so maybe i could make her some little buddies. I might do some supervised short visits with the others
The only problem with this is i need to keep her warm and the others are quite... messy even in their kennel (kicking stuff everywhere) so theyre all outside and shes inside with the heater on
I bought a few chicks and gave them a heat lamp however, we had a very unfortunate accident with the heat lamp and it fell on top of my little pekin bantam Mochi. She was under it for around 10 seconds and was promptly taken to the emergency vet. Shes around 4 weeks old. I think its a girl (pale...
