I have a tiny little Lavender Silkie named Viola. He/She is by far my smallest chicken. He/She was born in March, so is about 4 months old. I bought her, along with 8 other chicks. 7 of the 9 turned out to be roos, and I had to give them away. Only 1 out of the 9 I know for sure was a hen. I...
I am rather new to chicken raising, so I don't know a whole lot of options as to what it could be, but from your picture, it looks exactly like my chicken's problem. If she does have the "fungal junk", I am going to say it's canker. You can look at my link/post and see what the images looked...
thanks! Yes i have been putting the metronidazole in their water, for the past couple of days, and the canker has already gone down quite a bit. So she should make a full recovery, and all my other ladies seem to be doing just fine.
I purchased some metrodinazole from a local tropical fish store, and put some in my chicken's water. 250 mg per gallon of water. They have been drinking this for a few days, and my chicken that has the canker has showed a lot of improvement. The lump on her face has gone down significantly. My...

So my conclusion is that this is Canker in her mouth. Other than taking her to a vet and giving her antibiotics, which I am not really for, since this is not a bacterial infection, is there anyone out there that has had success with canker using homeopathic remedies?
Also should I separate her...
Just took a picture of it. So it has a lesion and black and yellow/white growth that is in between her mouth and her cheek. Any ideas on a good cleanser that would be safe for us to put on it to help her get rid of the infection?
I just posted to the forum for the same thing. I have a wyandotte, and hers is even on the same side. I will be staying tuned to your post as well for any information. Sorry I can't help, but if I do get some good info on mine, I will share it with you.
I noticed several days ago that one of my chickens had a bit of a bump by her mouth. I have been hesitant to take her to the vet without first doing some research, but since I am still rather new to raising chickens, any and all help is appreciated. This chicken is a silver laced wyandotte and...
