Hi All,
Has anyone ever dealt with this with your chickens? We have one hen that has a white mass protruding from her back side, which seems to be an egg still in the tube, with the entire thing prolapsed. I don't have pictures, but I have given her a couple warm baths, massaged the area, and...
The egg on the right was the first one laid by our flock last week!!! We are so excited. :) :)
And this morning both of our Rhode Island Reds have laid, so it is starting!!
Our chicks were born in early March, so it's a bit earlier than we were expecting, so rushed yesterday to get some...
We have a chicken that has shown himself to be a rooster. He's a golden sebright bantam, would anyone care to add him to your flock? He's about 14 weeks old. Not mean, just loud. :)
Is anyone here interested in my Golden Sebright Bantam rooster? He's friendly but we just want eggs to eat, so just hens. I live in West Olive (between Holland and Grand Haven, on the west side of the state).
Update on my bantam! I'm pretty sure it's a rooster. It's been making a squeaky crow that none of my other chickens are making, and it seems to think it rules the roost! Therefore, it has gotten itself the name Lord Farquaad. What do you all think? (Sorry about the cage in front of him).
Any input on the breed / sex of this bantam chick? My guess is Silver Sebright pullet, but interested in what you all have to say about it too. Thanks! :)
This is so interesting! Thanks so much, everyone!
So, for curiosity's sake, what are the main differences between Ameraucanas and Easter Eggers? And how do you tell the difference? Also, how are you able to tell they are pullets vs. cockerels?
I'd love to hear your thoughts and learned from...
Hi, neighbor! Nice to "virtually" meet you. :)
We moved at the end of last summer from the north side of Holland, so now we have the land to actually have room for chickens. I've been a city girl all my life, so I'm not sure how this is going to go! Kinda flying by the seat of my pants!
Anyone from the Holland / Zeeland / West Olive / Grand Haven area?
Also, I'm new to chicken keeping, and was wondering what you all do with your flock when you go away, like on vacation? Do you have someone come and take care of them a few times a day? If so, where do you find people who do...
Hello,
I recently got my first batch of baby chicks. What I would like to know is, once I move them outside, how much care do they require? Is it basically that I let them out in the morning and collect the eggs, and gather them back in the coop at night? Or do we need to be interacting with...
