    Hens quit laying...help!

Trust me, when I say I scoured the yard for any traces of eggs, I mean scoured, several times a week. I have never found anything. Everytime they've laid eggs, they have been in the coop. Also, there's not really any places to hide eggs in my yard, so I'm positive that's not the case. I don't...

    Hens quit laying...help!

This is the feed we use, from tractor supply. That & whatever they may find in the yard is usually all they get..rarely do they get "treats", it's more like leftovers and that's not often at all.

Just checked & didn't see anything. I keep their coop pretty clean.. especially in the summer.

    Hens quit laying...help!

I'm starting to think I may have the most picky hens! They sure do take a lot of breaks, if that's the case..I just can't figure them out.

    Hens quit laying...help!

I would have to say it has definitely been hot more than not. The highs have been in the 90's most days. There's plenty of shade and the coop is well ventilated. Trixie has had spells where she quit laying even before it got hot.

    Hens quit laying...help!

I have two hens that have just stopped laying! They are both around a year old. One is a Dominique, Pepper. The other, Trixie..not positive of the breed. Trixie pretty much just lays when she wants, she has stopped laying before, sometimes for weeks. Pepper was a late starter, we got our first...

    A little help please?

Just wanted to update... Since posting this, I've discovered that 1&4 are cockerels. At least, I believe they are anyway. They're not crowing or anything yet. But I have noticed that they've started to point their tail feathers down... And spurs are now sprouting. I guess I'll know for sure in a...

    A little help please?

The barred hasn't grown her comb out yet. It's barely visible. My uncle grew up raising Dominiques in Louisiana. He swears up and down that she is a Dominique. From what I've read about them, she does seem to fit the breed.

    A little help please?

This is a pic from when we got them in September. Not a very good one.... But just for reference.. This was the day we got them (9/12) none of them looked the exact same age. To me (the one who knows nothing about chickens) each one looks a little older than the next. Also, my uncle swears the...

    A little help please?

So.. I'm new to chickens. My husband brought these 4 home on September 12. We don't know the specific ages... Was told 4-6 weeks at the time we got them. Also, was told all girls.... But I've had few people tell me I may have some roosters in the bunch. I don't really know much about chickens or...
