    We had some ducks 2 years ago and never had problems with predators but I guess I'm not saying we won't in the future... I'll look up ways to prevent predators from getting them. Thank you! :)

    I'm not too worried about predators... there is also a surrounding fence in our yard and we live in the suburbs. We also have 2 dogs that are outside most of the time (they don't bother the chickens though). I'm just making sure they won't be cold at night

    They are 6 weeks old... is that too young to be outside? They seem to be almost fully feathered.

    I have a coop and surrounding fence that's enclosed. I would keep them in the chicken coop at night then let them roam in the small fence surrounding it during the day. It looks something like this:

    I have 5 silkie chickens about 6 weeks old and I'm just wondering when I can keep them outside 24/7. Are they too young to keep outside? As of right now it is a low of 50°F at night and high of 80°F during the day.

    Thank you all for trying to help, sadly Nugget died in my hands. I was going to have him culled but I was too late. I'm glad he didn't suffer for long though.

    I came home today to find him unable to keep his balance. He falls when he tries to walk. What do you mean some don't thrive? Is that common for chicks? I attached some photos. It was originally a video but I wasn't able to upload it. He fell to the side and had trouble standing back up right.

    I use a heat lamp not heating pad. I can change water to the probiotic? Will that help? I'm just wondering why it's affecting just one chick and not the others if that is the problem.
