I have an omlet coop and it is very possible. They're expensive but can be fixed with zipties when things give up. And they're predator proof. It's warm most of the year down here, so I never shut the coop door unless it's getting really cold.
Pets has done a 360 degree turn in attitude. I'm still working on him not mounting hens in front of me, but even that is half-hearted. I have just gently, using a stick, been shoving him away from me. I haven't even had to do that the last two days. Getting this until control before it was a...
I think I could pick up Pets and carry him to town tucked under my arm. And I can handle him when I need to. I do believe he would defend his hens to the death. I believe he is starting to get the message that I am top bird and we will come to an understanding. The hens like him and I do to...
I think that everyone out there has helped me a bunch. He has just started doing this, and after reading all the advice, I got a stick and I just shove him out of the way when he does the hunch down ready-to-fight posture. He was a little shocked the first time, but I think that everybody is...
Contradictory advice! Someone out there have one that turned aggressive and they were successful with an attitude adjustment? I LOVE MY ROOSTER!!! What will be, will be I suppose, but I will be waiting on replies and trying to get his attitude adjusted, and also looking for a good chicken and...
Yes, he is a 2016, and I think you have good advice. I have to crawl into their pen to get them into their coop at night, although I hope to have one I can walk in someday. I read some of the other threads, about how you shouldn't imprint yourself on a cockerel. By the time I knew he was a...
I have a rooster and 5 hens. The rooster's name is Pets, if that tells you anything. Lately he has began having spells of acting like I'm another rooster. He's never seen another rooster. Any suggestions on how to modify his behavior? I do like him, but if he gets more aggressive, I won't be...
Thank you. I've gotten very attached to my rooster, who I just now found out for sure is a rooster. Hard to keep kidding yourself when you're just a few feet away when he crows. Haven't got a lot of money but I do have a roll of Velcro. Thank you so much.
