Hi all
i am currently performing the yearly late winter task of cutting back my pampas in anticipation of the new growing season. I had the genius idea of putting the dry grass in my run to give my ladies something to scratch around in and cut down on the mud. Then I thought that may not be so...
Wow! Having a good heart can be painful sometimes. I let everything be on his terms so it worked out good. I have had a close relationship with a local rescue group here at the lake that has a spay and neuter clinic that I built for them, and was funded by my good friends(and now employer)...
Thank you all for your wisdom. I think I’m satisfied with the dusting of pdz. I switched to using a four inch drywall knife for cleaning and just scrape pdz and all into a bucket. Working good. Just something I had to stop being hard headed about.
That’s hilarious! I trapped my Phred from our pole barn. He was feral and probably only six weeks old. I turned him loose in our wood shop and he hid out for probably two weeks. Then one day he decided he was tired of being lonely and jumped in my lap. Been spoiled rotten ever since.
I’m trying a light dusting of the pdz. I think it will work for everyday cleaning through the week. Good luck finding a rental. The campgrounds will probably be your best bet.
Update
I just cleaned poop shelf and found that the dusting of pdz worked well. It was just enough to keep things from sticking. I’ll see how it goes over the weekend. At this rate even if it draws a lot of moisture I won’t be wasting a bunch of the pdz. Thank you all for your input.
Thanks for responding. I have eleven birds and I clean at least every other day. I scoop and sift with cat litter scoop. It just seems like it draws so much moisture that within a couple days it’s too wet to sift, so I end up scooping it all out and starting over. Could just be something new...
Hello All
I have incredibly busy lately and haven’t had time for much but some reading. About a month ago I put a droppings shelf in my coop. I’ve used sand( not good), sweet pdz and DE so far. It just seems to me to be less sanitary than just scooping from the shavings every couple days. I do...
We have 4 brahmas, 4 Easter eggers, 3 cinnamon. I do not live on site. I’m about 20 miles away. It’s a forty hour a week job mon-fri. The only stress I have is self imposed. 30 years of self employment has ingrained that. Thanks for all the warm welcomes.
