We got both of these goslings from Sutherlands so they should be the same age but one is bigger and chunkier. We are thinking the bigger one is a male and the smaller one is female. Are we correct? I am thinking they are white chinese geese. I have included some pictures.
That would be really interesting for some to turn out blue since the father is a pekin and the mother is fawn and white. One of the ducklings has black legs and lighter feet as well as is mostly a ball of blue grey fluff.
UPDATE : The last duckling to hatch needed assitance because it had made not much progress in 24 hours and looked stuck, when I started to assist I was right he/she didnt have much room and luckily I was careful enough and the yolk was absorbed. The newborn is adjusting to everything and...
The Drake is a Pekin Duck. He's very protective over the mother duck which is why he thought the ducklings were competition. So they are Pekin/Fawn & White Runner Mix. I can't seem to find a mix like that online so its gonna be a surprise when they are older.
UPDATE : 4 of the eggs left have hatched into beautiful little babies and there is one hopefully gonna hatch in the next few hours because he/she has made.a decent sized hole in the shell but is most likely still absorbing the yolk and getting ready to zip 🤞. The drake is separated into a...
I am going to re-introduce the drake once the ducklings are old enough and big enough to where he won't attack them. At the moment the drake would hurt the ducklings like he did before because he is protective over his mate and thinks they are competition.
UPDATE : The eggs are hatching and one has fully hatched and is under mama duck. Hopefully there will be more in the morning. We have separated the drake hopefully keeping the babies safe.
I woke up today thinking I was gonna see little ducklings under my broody duck but no. I saw 4 dead ducklings and 3 eggs kicked out the nest and 2 were in the hatching process but dead. My drake had a little blood on him and one of the ducklings looked beat up but the other 3 did not. There are...
I have 2 goslings and 8 ducklings. We have caught the goslings nip the ducklings when drinking water. Is this normal and will this cause fatal harm to a duckling? Btw The goslings are bigger than the ducklings.
I have a fawn and white runner sitting on eggs and some of the eggs seem to be further aling than the rest. Most of the eggs seem to be around 14-18 days because I can see the veins and movement of the duck. However a few eggs that I candled last week seemed to be way farther along and now they...
Oh okay, I'm gonna guess that they are maybe a few days from hatch because in person most of the egg is dark except for the air sac and some next to it and I can no longer see veins.
