    Rehome One Rooster or Two?

We have raised chickens for several years, adding to the flock by buying newly hatched chicks from various sources. We made a decision from the beginning that we didn't want any roosters, and so have only purchased sexed chicks. But, as was bound to happen eventually, our recent batch included...

Take care of yourself! That enterovirus D68 that is around the country has recently been confirmed here in Indiana. It's also officially in Illinois, Kentucky, and Ohio (plus a bunch of other states). If you or your niece start having breathing trouble, go to the ER.

I thought I read a post from somebody who suggested scrambling them BEFORE freezing them in ice cube trays. That wouldn't help for use in baking (), but if you just want eggs for breakfast, it might be an option. Anybody else remember the post? Maybe I was on a different thread (although I...

Welcome! I'm from Bloomington too. We haven't gotten our chickens yet (argh), but have found BYC and the folks on this Indiana thread in particular to be very helpful and welcoming. I've learned a lot about chickens (and other poultry, and goats and sheep and alpaca and cows and......) here.

We have a Great Pyr that we adopted as a puppy from friends who have a farm. They own both his parents, both of whom are 100% outdoors and allowed to mix with cattle, donkey, horses, barn cats, geese, chickens, and a bunch of other dogs. His father is a true LGD, his mother a bit less so in...

Gotta show this to my husband! He will fall down laughing. Then again, it could be my skeleton and the sign would say 'waiting for husband at junk yard'.

my DH doesn't get to complain. My stash USED to be in the garage. Now the garage is full of old cars and car parts. It's almost as if he thinks that's what belongs in the garage...and the living room (seriously. Ever tried to find a spot on your coffee table to put down a soda and realize...

lol! My fabric/thread/yarn stash takes up so much room we had to get a shed for it. We thought about clearing it out to create a coop, but we have no place to put the stash. And there is no way I'm giving up my stash.

    Meyer Hatchery Chicken pics anyone??

This is something we discussed on another thread a few week back (we were also talking about the timing of the feeding). At the time I did a little research on it and this is what I found (quoted directly from my post at that time): ok, I took advantage of my university affiliation and just...
