We have RentACoop door.. I'd link but I can't remember if Amazon links are allowed. It eats batteries like crazy and froze shut 3 times last winter.. It's a cool idea, I can set by daylight or timed, but overall I just eventually sealed my run and jammed it open.. The daylight setting didn't...
Thanks for the responses everyone! I'm sorry for slow reply.. For some reason I didn't see the notifications on this. I was really excited to try this whole experiment out, but for now it has been stalled.. The solo gold laced cochin chick in question failed to thrive. :(
Hey guys! I want to pick the brains of some of you all. :)
I ordered eggs online through a supplier in AL and ultimately thanks to package handling I'm $250+ later and I have a single golden laced cochin chick. I'm working with USPS on the claim regarding handling issues, but that's neither...
Runs! I have one main 16x24 run with an 8x8 coop that is my catch-all. It houses my BCM, my EE to produce OE with the marans roo, and my brown "eating egg" layers. Then one 8x16 that houses 8 seramas, and two more 8x24 pens. One holds an ameraucana roo and barred rock hens for sexlink EE, and...
I guess I'm the odd person out on this one.. I LOVE my magicfly tabletop. I run it constantly from mid-March to Mid-August churning out serama chicks every 21 days. If my hens can keep up and I place the slots right on the turner, it can accomodate 12-15 tiny serama eggs.
I run it on a table...
Something like that, haha! I'm not too sure myself, someone mentioned it amd off to google I went.. This is what I've mapped out, with basil and marigolds sporadically planted..
Probably an EE, the cheeks likely come from ameraucana used for the blue egg component. And then something barred for the barring. Likely ameraucana and barred rock since that produces sex linked babies.
I have 24 pullets. Australorps, Buff Orphingtons, Barred Rock, and Silver Laced Wyandottes.
My Wys are my worst layers. My Australorps are my best. I can tell my Australorp eggs apart. They've laid 7 eggs a week since they reliably started laying.. They had a starter phase with less, but built...
Bonus content.. All my kids from that hatch..
My fluffy solid gray and solid white pullets from that hatch are pretty nifty beside all that lacing. It also produced a solid black with a silver laced belly.
