eggs not collected for a week

I don't know about the duck eggs, but chicken eggs will be fine to eat as long as no one was sitting on them. There are places in the world that do not have refrigerators and they eat eggs that are shelf kept up to a month.

    Chick disappeared!

I had a squirrel steal one of my chicks out of my coop. Just bit it in the head and killed it and left it on the outside of the coop. Babies are easy prey even in coops. It was an unfortunate lesson for me.

    Lavender orpington genetics question?

I'm not clear on your question. Are you talking about breeding other breeds to the Lavender Orpington or are you talking about trying to develop Lavender color in another breed? I think the answer you are seeking is yes, but not sure.

    Lavender orpington genetics question?

Not totally positive about this, but here's my input. Anybody free to correct me. 1) White Orpington offspring, split to Lavender. So they will look like Whites, but carry the Lavender gene. 2)Patridge Orpington offspring, split to Lavender. They will look like Patridge, but carry the...

    GREENFIRE FARMS BIELEFELDER ROOSTER

I purchased a batch of one week old chicks from Greenfire Farms. I currently have extra Roosters that are 5 months old that I would like to sell. I hate to take them to the auction as they could end up as someones dinner and they are too pretty for that! BIELEFELDER ROOSTER 5 MONTHS OLD - 5...

    Lavender orpington genetics question?

Lavender is recessive, so you need two Lavender genes to produce Lavender offspring. Your Lavender hens will produce Lavender with Lavender rooster. For your other hens, unless your Olive egger or Easter Egger has a Lavender gene somewhere, all your hens will produce chicks that most probably...

    I am VERY worried

If they are standing around with tail down, kind of fluffed up feathers, uninterested in eating or drinking and don't show any signs of respiratory disease, I would guess it could be Coccidia. Very easy to treat with Corid if they are not too far gone. This disease can be picked up from new...

New flock, sick birds! I am a newbie!!

Sorry you haven't gotten much response to your question. I am no expert on all these diseases, however, I have had luck with Denagard for respiratory issues. However, since you are already on an antibiotic, I would do the full course of that treatment and see if they recover or it comes back...

HELP Which antibiotic do I use for Coccidiosis?

Thank you so much for your help. Hopefully I can start treatment with Denagard and then order some Corid. One more question. My youngsters are in a separate pen inside my large regular coop. Are my older flock at risk and should I treat them? There are no signs of infection with them and...

HELP Which antibiotic do I use for Coccidiosis?

I went out to find my flock of 7 wk olds not looking so good this morning. Tail down, ruffled feathers, not eating. Then I picked one up and it was so thin and had poopy bottom. I am suspecting coccidiosis because of their behavior. I have two antibiotics on hand, Denagard and Duramycn 10...

    Black and Blue Orpingtons

Even though they are cheaper, you will not get a reasonable hatch from most shipped eggs. Meaning if you pay $50 for a dozen eggs, you might get 6 chicks if you are lucky. So they become $10 chicks or more depending on how many hatch. No one will guarantee hatch. Look for someone close to...

    Hungry hens or predator??

I have had ground squirrels steal eggs and baby chicks. They don't even eat them most of the time, they just do the damage.
