Our first egg hatched 2 weeks ago - because there was only on of the initial batch of 6 that hatched, we bough her some nest mates who were a similar size. One of the chicks we bought was a little older - I guess at least a week, possibly a little more.
We also got a little carried away and...
We chose the chicks based on their egg colour which won't work if we have a batch of roosters of course. We hope to keep a single roo but hope he passes on coloured egg genes as we think an easter egger might be fun in future. Not too concerned about how many eggs we get so much as wanting happy...

I believe they're a hibrid based in the Rhode Island Red (but don't take my word for it - I'm very new!!) Mine is just a chick anyway - here's some google...
Age - approx 2 weeks.
Comb largely the same tone as beak atm - tail points both up and down - I've seen both!! It is older than the other chicks here.
(Just for info - the other chicks are a Cream Crested Legbar (left in the final pic) and Hybrid Columbian Blacktail)
My Columbian Blacktail is at the front - The heat lamp makes it appear yellower than it should - "she" (hopefully) is quite ginger with a paler breast and the beginnings of slightly speckled wing feathers.
