Have lost 2 chickens in the last 24 hours. Not sure what to. I have seen raccoons in the neighborhood but we also have feral cats. Buff Orpington chicks that just do not want me to know what they are!
Ugh! I guess I already knew that but was hoping...... So have at least one rooster (again) and possibly another one if Henny Penny doesn't turn out to be a hen. Well six hens means one for each of us to hold.- FarmerBlake

We fared pretty well here. Got pea sized hail here last night. No damage to the plants though. I was anxious to see if the tomato and pepper plants were okay this morning. Dani will take mine if it's a roo. Then I can just walk down and visit it. That would be pretty cool! I will check feathers tomorrow. Sure wish Shawnee would let us keep a rooster but maybe in time. We are up to 10 chickens now instead of 6.- FarmerBlake

Okay people. Does this look like a rooster comb. I have the worst luck when it comes to getting chicks that aren't hens. In Shawnee, we aren't supposed to have them. Out of my 6 original chicks, 3 were roosters. Go figure! It's about 4 to 5 weeks old. My 3 week old has the smallest of combs...- FarmerBlake

Buff orpingtons and pullet. Auto carrot on my kindle makes me look stupid everytime! The one buff is chest bumping the other larger buff. I just inherited two buff springtime from a fellow school mom. Her hubby got them from a feed store that said all the buffs are pulleys. One has a redder comb than the other.
