No, the gnats got them. 5 out of 12 died. Got the rest of them in the big pen in the big coop. They are ok now. Had a neghibor that lost five big girls yesterday. (5 out of 6) I took his other one last night and put her in with my birds. She seemed ok last night and this morning.

hey thanks for the info. I figured about 8 weeks until I can put them in the Big Girl pen. I'll just keep putting them out during the afternoon in their small pen. Thanks for the reply.
Have some 3 week old birds almost fully feathered now. They are still inside with a light on them. What age can I put them outside in a seperate small run. What age do they have to be to put them in with my older birds? Thanks for the help. Im new to young birds.

Ok I think I have a girl starting to "sit". She stayed int he box today on her egg and some laid by other birds. I've been taking all the eggs everyday until today. I did put some other eggs under her today that I got out of the other boxes. Not sure how many she has under her at the moment...
Have a rooster "Barney" who has a growth starting on both feet. When I picked him up to look at it...The bottom of his feet are ok but the front at the bottom of his legs...at the top of his feet have a scaley looking white crusty growth on them... He is limping a little. But gets on roost just...
Found one of my girls dead behind the coop today. Her head was gone and something had eaten the inside of her carcuss. Any ideas on what it might have been? Coons, Hawks, Cats or what? Please let me know what you think it might have been.

yes it has been in the same place for the past three days. I use the DLM in my coop. She just builds her nest there everyday in the shavings. But I will try to put something in that spot and see what happens.

Yes she is able to get up in the boxes. She gets on the roost just fine. I have had golf balls in there for awhile. I do move them to different boxes from time to time. it's funny to see the birds lay only in the boxes where the golf balls are. Any ideas?
I have one chicken laying on the floor of the coop. Not using the boxes. She is a little older than the other birds. All the others are using the boxes. Is there a way to teach them to use the boexs?
