    We were having the same problem, even with putting the food and water up on a block of wood. We solved the water problem by getting some watering nipples at Tractor Supply and screwing them into the bottom of an old bicycle water bottle. All it took was a 3/8" drill bit and it's worked...

    Thanks for the info! We're thinking about wood shavings in the coop (5'x6') and possibly doing hay or straw in the run area, but I may have to consider putting a roof on the run (which I'm thinking about doing any way) to keep things somewhat dry. We used sand for a while in our brooder box...
