What is the green stuff they are laying on?

That happens here too! I'll be cutting veggies and fruits for the kids' lunch, and then suddenly I'm chopping the scraps, raiding the fridge for anything else they might like, and taking them out to the chickens, where I'll stay for a few minutes to watch them snack, and then finally I'll head...

The chickens I favor are the nice ones or the ones at the bottom of the pecking order. A couple of my ISA's like to be pet, so they'll come over just to visit. Then there's 2 white birds (the farm told me they are Rhode Island Whites, but BYC has a different opinion-maybe production whites?)...

Mine mostly shy away from the tractor (can't blame them!) and rain. During their first week out in the yard as chicks, it was just barely drizzling, and then suddenly it turned to big chunks of hail. They all ran up to me, peeping and trying to find shelter. It was a very 'the sky is falling!'...

If you have the opportunity to be in your school's band or orchestra, DO IT! I took piano lessons when I was 5-7, and started playing the violin in 6th grade. I wasn't as good as the kids who had started playing at age 4, but it was so much fun! We got to do fun things like traveling to perform...

Birds of a feather really do flock together! The chicks we raised from week old babies still travel around the yard together at 12 weeks, and the other groups of chickens stay with the other chickens they grew up with as well. It isn't as traumatic as it was when they were tiny babies and...

I think it is mostly for people who keep the chickens as indoor pets to keep the poo off the floor. I think it's a little silly, but, to each their own :)
