    This is my second year with a polish chicks, and I’m Still trying to decide this one’s gender. We had a polish hen die & purchased this chick sold as a hen to add another to the flock. Now I’m afraid we might have a rooster. 4 weeks old.

    Thanks. We had a polish hen but she died so we didn’t know if with just the polish rooster any would have crests.

    Polish hen dead on roost

    This morning our 1yr old Polish hen was dead on her roost. No injuries, no sign of illness. It looked like she died in her sleep. She had always been small but seemed healthy- only started laying eggs 2 months ago. Should I be worried about our other chickens? They all seem healthy & happy.

    We have a polish rooster, and our 6 hens are all different breeds. If we hatch chicks, what are the chances they will have the polish crests?

    Are both these polish crested hens?

    First time chicken keeper this year. Two of the 8 chicks we bought are polish crested but they don’t look alike. Is one a rooster? The one is black with a very rounded crown, the other buff one has longer head feathers.
