I have hatched three black bantam cockerals, one whom is completly black but the other two also black but have grown faint gold/brassy colouring in thier hackles at about 10 weeks old. They have mixed colour genes of black, lavender and cuckoo. why has this happened?

That's funny the difference between the chicks feathering is really obvious whereas mine all seem to have the same length, I guess that could mean they are all either cockerels or pullets.
Andycap, I have a LF brahama with some hybrid hens along with my pekin girl, my brahma never touches her but your cockerel will get bigger and I don't recommend having LF cockerel with small bantams unless there is large hens which will keep him happy...
