In the process of managing my flock, i.e. culling a 6 month old cockerel - I saw the fellow had an abnormal liver. Prior to culling, the bird displayed no symptoms in actions or apperance of being ill. The skin, bones, flesh, and organs appeared normal, the liver not so much. The carcus is...

    4th of July hatch along!

Awesome pictures - Congratulations! I have a question, can you tell me what roadside "fridge eggs" means? I'm guessing the "12 Serama eggs" were sourced from a roadside vendor, yes/no? Thank you. Yep this is July Hatch-A-Long. I am winding up my July hatch today - unfortunately this hatch was...

The excitment mounts! Drum roll please. Whoever thought there was so much excitement about being locked down! For us chicken tenders the term is exciting but for many others not so much. June 11 I set 20 "Yard Bird Exclusive" eggs, a special cross of RIR, PR, and BS. When I started raising...

    4th of July hatch along!

Last march I bought three buff orpingtons. I read that they have strong brooding tendencies - my plymouth barred rocks, black star, and rhode island reds don't seem to have a broody feather on them. What type of bird is setting on the eight eggs?

I'm rootin' for those two "Good Eggs". I remember my mom using the term "good egg" as a term of endearment. Occasionally she would say to me "Your a good egg."

Sorry for your loss. Speaking of smelling horrible, are you familiar with balout? Actually I don't remember it selling too bad but the taste and texture... Not my cup of tea, thank you. I set 20 eggs this afternoon, a mix of Rhode Island Red, Plymouth Barred Rock & Black Star. Happy hatching!

Wow! For a moment there I thought we may have found the "Golden Egg!" I'm guessing CCLB is Crested Cream Leg Bar. Greenfire farms in Midway, FL? Awsome. Do you normally purchase hatching eggs on ebay? I've been hatching eggs as a hobby for a couple ah three years. I bought 6 'day old'...

I am wondering if climate may play a role in keeping ducks. It seems to me ducks perfer a cooler climate such as you have. There are a few ducks around but chickens and turkeys are more abundant in our area.

Lavender Orpington awsome! Last march I purchased three Buff Orpington, two hens and a rooster they are 13 weeks old now so it will be a while before I hatch out some Buff Orpingtons. I'm sorry I don't know what "Fell Eggs" are. Perhaps you can educate me. My most recent hatch, 5 days ago...
