    What breed is this?

Thank you! I think you're right, unsure about the earlobes though - not our chickens, we were just visiting!

They are 4 weeks old, any ideas!? Thank you!

Should I be concerned if one of my hens keeps laying eggs like this?

Thank you, that was quite an interesting read!

Should I be concerned if one of my hens keeps laying eggs like this?

Yes, the concern is the wrinkles! By bluebell I meant the breed of hen, which lays light brown eggs! Thanks for all the replies everyone, there was a point a few months ago when egg production dropped for a while so I wouldn't be surprised if a past respiratory infection was the issue!

Should I be concerned if one of my hens keeps laying eggs like this?

I've noticed that over the past while one of our hens keeps laying quite large eggs, with marks on it as shown in the picture. I can't imagine laying eggs like this can be comfortable for her! The egg at the top is one of the other hen's eggs. They're both bluebells and have access to the exact...

Thinking 2 of our Buff Orpington gals are in fact guys

If I were you I'd check on Facebook to see if there is a local poultry page or group. We are members of the one for the entirety of Northern Ireland and have noticed that in terms of roosters, Buff Orpingtons in particular get snapped right up once they are posted about. Their popularity should...

Thinking 2 of our Buff Orpington gals are in fact guys

Those guys look very similar to our buff roosters, but ours were noticeably different by the time they were 8 weeks old, with the large red wattle forming, as well as being bigger in size. Ours are only 10 weeks old so I couldn't say what 12 weeks looks like, but I wouldn't be surprised if they...

Black around my buff Orpington's beak

I know it's been 3 years since this post, but wondered how this chick turned out? A couple of our buffs have similar markings and we wanted to check that it's normal! Attached a photo of ours underneath!

    What sex is this

The debate never ending would be dreadful... At least we'll know if spurs start to show in the future!

    What sex is this

Hey everyone, we posted this little guy a few weeks ago enquiring about his breed, and got that all sorted. I was wondering if any expert in the matter could offer some clarification on sex? He's displaying very rooster like characteristics, and I am certain he's a rooster, but my father in law...

    Is this a Blue Cochin?

Yes, he is absolutely stunning! Unfortunately our flock is only big enough for one rooster, so we need to choose between him and one of our gorgeous buffs 😬 (luckily we've been able to find good homes for the others 😊)

    Is this a Blue Cochin?

Yes she does, thank you so much!

    Is this a Blue Cochin?

Oh very good, thank you! Yes, it is a pea comb. He's developing slower than the buffs but by his behaviour we're pretty certain he's a he.

    Is this a Blue Cochin?

We ordered in 18 Buff Orpington Eggs weeks ago, 12 hatched but one was very different. We contacted the breeder and she said she thought it could be a Blue Cochin, as the egg labelling system would make them look very similar (BO and BC) but was difficult to tell immediately after hatch! Now...
