    Super Sick Silkie

She’s still being hand-fed & water through a syringe. She went back to pretty much no movement. Today’s been her worst day so far. I’m not sure what else can be done for her, at this point, but I’ll keep trying as long as she’ll let me.

    Super Sick Silkie

She’s pooping now, & even stood up for a whole hour yesterday! Little wobbly today. Working on keeping her hydrated & getting some vitamins in her, since she still isn’t interested in eating or drinking.

Upon further inspection, I can feel a small, hard ball in her crop. It’s not stationary, I can move it. I just don’t know where to move it to

She still hasn’t pooped. Trying to syringe feed her, but I also have tiny humans to tend to. I put some water with nutri-drench with her, & will try again this afternoon. Not sure if her crop is impacted, but it’s possible. I’m not quite sure what I’m looking for with that.

    Super Sick Silkie

An update on Hen Solo: She made it through the night as a house chicken. She’s completely uninterested in eating or drinking, & cannot hold herself up. Breathing heavily.

    Super Sick Silkie

The only way I can describe her crop is empty? It’s hard, but not like something’s stuck. She free-ranges almost daily, so I don’t offer grit. The articles I’ve read in the past said that it wasn’t necessary for free-range girls. I’m very unsure of what else to do or where to even go for help...

    Super Sick Silkie

She hasn’t pooped since I started all of this, so no photos there.. I know the seeds & pepper won’t treat an infestation, we give those mostly as a preventative. Clearly didn’t work out for us. Is there an alternative to Permethrin that you’re aware of? I’ve read that it’s toxic to cats, & we...

& also, what does any of the things I add to the food/water harm exactly? I’ve only ever read about the benefits, I haven’t seen any negative reactions.

    Super Sick Silkie

Crop feels absolutely empty; she hasn’t moved to eat today. She eats a 16% layer feed, & has a separate bowl of oyster shells if she needs them. I mix some basil & crushed red pepper into her feed. She snacks when she free ranges, & gets fruit/veggie scraps a few times a week. Mealworms...

    Super Sick Silkie

For starters, Hen Solo (my favorite chicken in the whole wide world) is a 3.5 years old silkie hen. She’s recently stopped laying completely, which I thought was just age? But now I suspect something else.. she’s been slow/sluggish the past few days, so I thought she may have hurt her leg...

Possum Attack - Hen scratched BADLY

Thank you so much for all of the links, they’ve been very helpful! From the links listed above & articles I’ve found myself, the studies seem limited, but positive. I’m no vet, but since it’s all I had & I could find no negative information, I went ahead & mixed a small dose in a gallon of...

Found an unopened bottle of this! Would this work? Google is unclear in regards to chickens lol

Possum Attack - Hen scratched BADLY

I actually happen to have some Hibiclens! Wow, I didn’t even think of that & didn’t recognize its other title. She’s resting now, but she did manage to get out of her baby onesie. I have her in my garage; hopefully, a stray fly hasn’t made its way in, but we put fly traps up just in case! I...

Possum Attack - Hen scratched BADLY

She’s in her baby onesie now, thank you for that advice! She wouldn’t leave the wound alone. It’s definitely starting to get infected, so I’m sure it’s bothering her. I applied some neosporin & im hunting for antibiotics now!

Possum Attack - Hen scratched BADLY

Thank you for your response! I sprayed her with an organic antifungal/antibacterial & put some blue HenHealth on her, but I don’t have any oral antibiotics. She’s eating & drinking normally as of now, & she refuses to let me isolate her (her bestie was missing until this morning, so she was...
