    Broody White crested polish

I have a broody polish hen, she’s a year old and I’ve heard it’s rare they go broody. I have her some chicks after she sat for a few weeks. It’s a sight to behold, but she seems to be doing a good job.

I have seen it run at one of the other chickens on occasion, but other than that, nothing. Then again the poor thing can’t really see, sometimes the flock runs somewhere and it’s left alone chirping.

Im hoping mine is a pullet, but at nine weeks, with a crazy wattle; I’m starting to suspect it’s a cockerel 😞

    New chicken owner from Florida

Thanks all, since writing this, one of my chicks unfortunately died; and a friend of mine gave me 2 leghorns that are about the same age my remaining chicks. All in all, they’re getting along, and enjoying their first week in the coop. I installed a webcam in there and it’s a blast watching them...

    New chicken owner from Florida

Hello, we recently (during lockdown) built a coop and bought 5 chicks. 2 Rhode Island reds and 3 white crested black polish. I’m hoping they’re all hens, as like most jurisdictions, roosters are not allowed. I’m glad I found the site and look forward to being part of the community.
