Hens go broody when you don’t want them to… and won’t go broody when you do. Fiasco

I'm 16, and excited about the self-sufficient lifestyle! I'm eager to learn all that I can about animal husbandry, gardening, preserving food, homemaking, etc, so that I can raise my own children this way someday.
I'm homeschooled, and love it all the way. One time a few years ago, my Dad asked me what NYC was. I said I wan't sure. He asked, "well, what's BYC?" and I said, "BackYard Chickens, of course!" He got such a kick out of that. I do know where New York City is, by the way....I just didn't know that abbreviation.
So yeah, that's me! I know I will enjoy learning all about chickens and receiving help from all of you, and I hope I can do my part to give back!
