Before they stopped eating, I was giving them a variety of fresh veggies (corn, peas, lettuce, etc..) I made the mistake of not offering them grit, which is what I believe started this whole issue. Before the whole fresh veggie thing, I was feeding them cracked corn and flock raiser, along with...
That is so sad! I actually just got an appointment for tomorrow! Finn (one of my ducks), can barely walk anymore, and I feel awful. Daisy, my other, is doing WAY better than Finn. But I have an appointment for both. Hopefully they will live through all this, I am so worried. Thank you!
I have been offering them cracked corn with grit, also yogurt (high in probiotics), but they wont eat anything. It has now been 3-4 days since they have eaten, unless you count them foraging in the hay? I have an appnt at 9:30 tomorrow. For both ducks exam it is $93, due to a discount from my...
Oh no, I am sorry to hear that. The crop seems to have gotten bigger and a bit harder today. I am starting to lose all hope, she is having a lot of trouble walking. How long did she die when the crop issue started?
I've tried chest compression and massages to work the impact up. I made her throw up a bunch of water. But no matter how much I do that, I feel like the impact just gets bigger. I am at a loss for what to do. I have a post on this where you can see the pictures.I describe a lot of what I have...
Hi there.
I made a similar post before, and through that post I found out that my ducks have an impacted crop..
I have two pekin ducks, both are 7 months old and female. Recently I have noticed their crop getting very large, and their behavior becoming sluggish to the point that they are...
Also, my friend who has a farm just told me they are obese and I have been feeding them WAY too much, which is common with Pekins because they always look hungry. Them being obese is part of the crop issue.
Thank you all for saving my ducks!!
THANK YOU SO MUCH. They are doing so much better all the sudden. I forced them to drink some olive oil (which helps with impacts) and put them in a warm bath. They are no longer doing the headbob, and are having so much fun swimming, like they used to!! You honestly saved my ducks, and my wallet...
Thanks for replying.
UPDATE: I have put a bunch of vinegar in a clear plastic tub with water. I heard that will help. I have to do something.
ALSO, they are now making loud screeching quacks.
I normally feed them cracked corn with veges.
They are not jumbo. I found a post similar to the issues I am having.

This is the closest to the issue I am having. Both ducks are very sluggish and seem to be hurting in their crop. They bob their head...
Thanks for responses. They are 7months old now, and have not started laying yet. They are also refusing to eat, even treats like corn (which in the past they would have gone CRAZY for).
