    Friends or Foes?

Glass barrier thank goodness. Chicken Licken on the window sill here keeps trying to get in the back door and today came round the front to get my attention. Smidgen my cat intrigued by her presence at the window. Just realised she must have jumped up onto the sill!

Does anyone know how to "interpret" different noises your hens make?

I call my chickens contented sound' crooning' it is so relaxing. The dominant hen Chicken Licken talks away all the time and I am beginning to tune in to her language. She grumps if no treats are forthcoming. If I am out in the garden but not visiting the run she calls and she lets me know if...

The one that is having the problem laying...

    Introduction

Nearly a month in and my chooks are doing grand. In a larger run now with shade and dust bath areas, plus coop. Feels secure and getting two eggs a day. Love their crooning sounds as they settle in and begin to talk to me. So relaxing.

Thanks for the advice. In a larger outdoor run now and come to my voice, or the Lund of the gate opening. Also beginning to be able to touch the friendliest one. Others a bit wary still.

Was looking for advice on letting hens out. I have three year old rescue hens I've had for a week now and they are settled and laying eggs. So was thinking of trying to let them out by the weekend, but will follow the advice here first. Thanks.

Managed to get right old, bedding and water and food dispensers tidy and fixed up the door to hold open. It was propped up with wood, but returned to find it had been knocked away and one HNC out and Theo shut in. Luckily only away a couple of hours, as having exceptional hot weather for us...
