Backkkkkkkkkk..Visit to the vets 107 bucks later and we have an infection!! This morning the eye was finally runny YAH, I was worried we were dealing with cataracts or something.
So they weighed my boy he is 7 pounds 12 ounces, bacteria showed in the slide under the microscope, but not sure...
Aww am sorry you lost your Nugget, it is so sad when that happens. I had Nugget into the vets last year to trim his beak and His spur and my vet keeps warning me that my birds are going to pass soon to be prepared. I have Nugget, Bazinga, Cinnamon and Lucy all 7.5 years of age. Cuddles...
Ok so my birds..are sorta kinda spoiled..Their coop is huge, drywalled and insulated with windows & screens (gotta keep the bugs out) , nesting boxes have matching curtains, and I pooper scoop it every week. No mold, no amonia, and the run is dirt cause they have eaten all the grass..:) We...
I am such a wimp when it comes to my birds. When Nugget needed his beak trim, I took him to the vets. Cost me 20 bucks and was done within secs. Less stress for me and Nugget lol
Let me preface this by saying I am just looking for ideas, Nugget will be seeing our vet, tomorrow.
Nugget is a 7.5 year old buff rooster. Recently we have noticed he is having vision problems. His eyes LOOK clear to me, He is eating well, (this morning we literally had to show him the food)...
Thanks for the suggestions! I was hoping it was stress, I know for my husband and I, it wasn't until hmm about two weeks ago that we felt somewhat normal (and we still have repairs to do to our fish house and privacy fencing) We had to cut and remove 6 BIG trees (none hit the house or our coop...
This was my chicken coop after hurricane Irma, not sure if you can tell but you are see a reflection on the water. The water was over 5 feet in the coop. When Irma hit we did not expected to be flooded and my chickens were safe and sound (so we thought ) in the coop. Imagine our surprise the...
When the specialist told us Lucy had Cancer I figured we would get a few more weeks. Not a few days.
This morning, when I got up to check on her, she was pale, not just pale. She was white, her feet, her skin, her cone , paper white. Like over night she went form pink and alert to..weak and...
The Avian Specialist called me this evening and based on her numbers and that they felt a *lump* on her they believe she has cancer. We had some options such as surgery, meds etc but Lucy is 6 years old.
We are going to spoil her and love her and when I think it is time we will euthanize her.
He already did the fecal on her and it is normal. We also did fecal on Nugget, the Rooster, since he was at the vets with her, to get a beak trim and spurs trimmed and his also came back normal. Poop is normal -- she is in the house in the florida room so I see her poop every single time and...
Lucy one of our hens, is severely underweight. I feed her extra morning and night and I get her up to about 4 pounds, soon as I stop the additional food. She drops down to 2 pounds.
So off to the vet we went and He came back with some numbers (he is waiting for a specialist to contact him)...
